I am pleased to report that this lovely pub has resumed normal service and is again open on Tuesdays. We can use facilities and have a coffee before walking. The pub has a great atmosphere and offers a great selection of beers and food.
If we are unable to park in the pub car park, there is ample parking between the pub and the park gates, for which there is a charge. This can be paid by phone.
The walk: Windsor Great Park has proven to be a popular choice with members. We start from the Bishopsgate Road entrance. We have planned a walk of approximately 4 miles along paths and/or tracks with a few inclines, but nothing too steep. There are no stiles.
We will enjoy the beautiful open spaces, amazing views over Windsor Castle and a wonderful variety of magnificent trees, including ancient oaks.
We hope that we will see deer. Whilst dogs are very welcome on the walk they will, of course, need to be leashed when near the deer.
Directions: Via St Peters Hospital
Come off the M25 at junction 11, keep in left hand lane and take dual carriageway (A320). At roundabout, take A320 towards Chertsey/Staines, and go past St Peter’s. At the mini roundabout, after the hospital, turn left onto Holloway Hill, then immediately turn right into Hardwick Lane. Keep on this road for just over 2 miles. At the end turn right (signed towards Egham). Under railway bridge and then turn left at traffic lights. Continue along Christchurch Road, past Virginia Water station for about 1 mile. At the large roundabout take the 4th exit to Englefield Green. 1.5 miles go straight across the A30 at the traffic lights. Follow the main road through the village, over 3 mini roundabouts and, at the third, take the first exit and immediately turn left into Bishopsgate Road, which bears right. Follow this road straight on until you see white gates of Bishopsgate ahead of you. The pub is on the left-hand side.
Please do come along for lunch even if you cannot make the walk – it will be great to have your company.
Members are reminded that it is their personal responsibility to decide on the level of their capability and whether they should participate in each club activity.
